Penny Timeline

We are working on a Social Studies project. In Math we have been studying number lines and patterns and in Social Studies we are studying how historians collect information. This is an opportunity for the students to make their own number lines.

We want to have our students understand how timelines work and how they go in chronological order by dates.

we are having the students make their own timelines with pennies. The students need to go on a scavenger hunt at home and find a penny that was made for each year of theirlife. They will need to bring the pennies into school in a bag (with their name on it) on Friday, October 31, 2008.

The students already have the page they need to fill out in their homework folder. Have them write the MOST IMPORTANT event that happened each year of their life. We will finish the project inc lass and that is where the neatness will come into the grade.

This will count as a Social Studies project grade (2 Social Studies grades). I will not accept late porjects, there are no exceptions.
