Ancestry Report
A pilgrim was a traveler to a new land. Many pilgrims are still coming to our country. Some came recently; some came long ago, but all our families were once new-comers to the United States of America. Write about your family's journey to this "new" land.
1. Try to answer as many of the following questions while writing your report.
* When did your family first arrive in the U.S.A.?
* Where did they come from?
* How did they get here?
* Why did they come?
* Where did they settle?
* What did they bring with them?
* How long did the journey last?
* What happened on the journey?
2. Report length: At least 7 sentences, but no more than a page long.
3. The report can be written by hand or typed on a computer.
Due: Friday, November 21st
Presentations: Monday, November 24 and Tuesday, November 25.

Three States of Matter
All matter is made of tiny seperate particles called moelcules. The molecules of all matter are in constant motion, moving in every direction. This motion is called energy. There are three states of matter: solids, liquids, and gases. In the solid state, the molecules hold together. They keep their positions even though they are vibrating rapidly. In liquids, the vibrating molecules are not held together-they roll and slide around each other. In gases, the molecules are moving so rapidly that they bounce apart and are widely seperated.
This week, you will create a poster to show your understanding of the three states of matter. You may use popcorn, beans, styrofoam packaging, or anything else you have in your home to create a poster of the molecules in solids, liquids, and gases. Make sure your project includes your name, title, and three correctly labeled states of matter. Have fun and be CREATIVE! Be ready to share your poster in class on: Friday, November 7th.
